VALVET began in Crownsville, Maryland, where Delicia used her own three-bedroom, two-bathroom mobile home to house up to twelve individuals in need of safety, warmth, and guidance. As the vision expanded, Delicia and her partner purchased a six-bedroom home in Baltimore City, transforming VALVET into a formal transitional housing organization rooted in compassion, respect, faith, and second chances.

VALVET Transitional Housing and Shelter, Inc. exists to provide safe, stable, and faith-driven housing for individuals and families experiencing homelessness or reentering society after incarceration. We are committed to offering not just shelter, but compassion, guidance, and access to resources that empower people to rebuild their lives, restore family connections, and move toward lasting independence.

Our vision is a community where no one is left without a place to call home, where people leaving homelessness or incarceration are met with dignity, opportunity, and support, and where families are healed and strengthened. We strive to create a future in which every individual has the secure foundation, tools, and encouragement needed to achieve their goals, become
positive role models, and contribute meaningfully to their families and communities.
